๐ฅ One Potato, Always For Sale
There is exactly one Jackpotato NFT. It's always jackable. The current holder cannot refuse โ if someone meets the minimum price, they jack it. No blocking. That's the game.
๐ Price Can Only Go Up
The contract enforces a floor. Every jack must beat the previous price by the current stage minimum. Nobody can rug the price out from under you. Every holder paid more than the one before them โ and so will the next.
๐ฑ Holding Is Fortification
The longer you hold, the more your potato sprouts โ and each stage raises the floor anyone must pay to take it from you. Dormant: +20%. Sprouting: +30%. Harvest: +50%. Hold long enough and you become genuinely expensive to dislodge.
๐ธ Getting Jacked = At Least Breakeven
The contract guarantees you get back at least what you paid. Every jack must beat the floor โ the more they overpay, the more profit you pocket and the bigger the jackpot grows. Hold longer and the floor gets higher, making you more expensive to jack. You also receive a Souvenir NFT immortalising your hold.
Example Arc โ How A Season Plays Out
Day 0. Alice jacks the Jackpotato for 1.0 ETH. The price floor is now set โ anyone who wants it must jack at 20% above what she paid. She doesn't pick a price. The contract enforces it.
Day 5. The potato sprouts. The minimum anyone must pay Alice has jumped to +30% above her price โ at least 1.30 ETH. She's harder to dislodge with every passing day. Spectators start placing calls on which stage the next jack lands.
Day 10. Harvest. Floor is now +50% โ anyone jacking Alice must pay at least 1.50 ETH. The Pot has been growing from every prior jack this season, plus seed contributions and The Call side bets.
Day 12. Bob jacks her for 2.25 ETH โ 50% above the Harvest floor. After the 2% creator fee, ~2.21 ETH settles: Alice walks away with ~1.55 ETH (70% of base) โ a +55% profit on what she paid โ plus a Legendary Souvenir NFT. The Pot gets the other 30%.
Day 27. Bob held for 15 days without anyone jacking him. The Boil fires. Jacking stops immediately โ Bob has won. After a 48-hour safety window, he claims 85% of the Season Pot. 10% carries forward to seed Season 2. The season closes.
The potato moves through three stages based on how long you've held it. Each stage raises the floor someone must pay to jack you โ and changes how the jack proceeds split between you, the Pot, and the creator. The longer you hold, the higher the floor and the closer you are to winning the pot.
๐ฅ
Dormant
Days 0 โ 5
Fresh hold. You're just getting started โ the floor is low and you're still easy to jack. The pot is young. Min +20% to jack you.
๐ฑ
Sprouting
Days 5 โ 10
Eyes are opening. You're getting harder to jack โ the floor has risen and more of every jack now flows to the pot. The prize is building. Min +30% to jack you.
๐พ
Harvest
Days 10 โ 15
Fully ripe. You're expensive to jack โ and if nobody does, The Boil can fire any time. The biggest slice of every jack now feeds the Pot. Min +50% to jack you.
The contract guarantees you at least break even โ overpay is where the profit lives. A 2% creator fee is taken from each jack; the remainder splits between you and the Pot. At bare minimum: Dormant (+20% floor) returns ~100% of what you paid, Sprouting (+30%) returns ~102%, Harvest (+50%) returns ~103%. But jackers rarely pay the minimum โ every extra percent they put in directly increases your payout and grows the jackpot. The more they want it, the better for you and the Pot.
๐ฏ๏ธ The Boil
Every season ends with a The Boil. It fires when 15 consecutive days pass without anyone jacking the potato.
When The Boil fires, jacking stops immediately. Whoever is holding the potato at that moment has won โ they just have to wait 48 hours for the payout to unlock.
After 48 hours, anyone can trigger the payout. The Pot pays out flat:
85%
You (Final Holder)
10%
Season 2 Seed
5%
Creator fee
1% of the creator fee goes to the Internet Archive.
Nobody jacks you for 15 days โ you win 85% of the Pot. That's the game.
โณ Timer Path
15 days pass without a jack. The holder proved they could outlast the market. The Boil fires automatically โ jacking stops immediately and they've won. The 48-hour safety window opens before the payout can be called.
๐ฐ The Boil Side Pool PROPOSED
A prediction market running alongside the season. One question: will the current holder still be holding when The Boil fires โ or will they get jacked first?
Back Holder Wins if you think they'll outlast the market and take the pot. Back Gets Jacked if you think someone will buy them out before the season ends. When the season closes, the losing pool pays the winning pool. A small cut seeds the main Pot.
๐ Holder Wins
Current holder outlasts the market and collects the Season Pot
$342 staked
โก Gets Jacked
Someone buys the potato before The Boil fires โ holder exits with profit
$187 staked
You don't need to hold the potato to have skin in the game. Two ways to play as a spectator โ seed the pot, or call the next jack.
๐ฑ Seed the Pot
Send ETH directly into the jackpot and receive a mystery Souvenir NFT in return โ a randomly selected piece from Season 1 holders who've opted in. 100% of your seed goes to the Pot. The bigger the pot, the more competitive the game gets.
๐ฏ The Call โ Predict the Next Jack
Bet on which stage the next jack happens in โ Dormant, Sprouting, Harvest, or The Boil (if you think nobody jacks at all). Every correct caller splits 80% of the side pot. The remaining 20% seeds the main jackpot. Your stake settles at the next jack, win or lose.
